Each year on 10 October, World Mental Health Day serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting and promoting mental well-being. At Powercomm, we view mental health as an integral part of workplace safety and culture. Just as we commit to high standards in engineering and construction, we are equally committed to creating an environment where our people feel supported, valued, and able to thrive.

Building Positive Mental Health

Good mental health is not only about seeking support during difficult times, but also about the habits and practices that help us stay balanced and resilient on a daily basis. At Powercomm, we encourage our team to:

  • Take regular breaks: Stepping away from work, even briefly, helps to recharge focus and energy.
  • Find joy in small things: Whether it’s a walk, a coffee with a colleague, or listening to music, small moments can restore balance.
  • Connect with others: Sharing challenges and successes with colleagues, friends, or family prevents isolation and strengthens resilience.
  • Fill your cup: Prioritise activities that bring energy and positivity, ensuring time is made for wellbeing outside of work.

Support Available

To strengthen this commitment, Powercomm provides access to:

  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP): A confidential service offering professional counselling and advice on a wide range of personal and work-related issues.
  • Industry and Community Supports: Organisations such as Aware Ireland, Pieta, and the Construction Industry Federation provide valuable resources, helplines, and programmes.

A Shared Responsibility

Promoting mental health is not a task that can be accomplished alone – it is a shared responsibility. By looking out for one another, encouraging open conversations, and offering support when needed, we create a stronger and more sustainable workplace.

Our Commitment on World Mental Health Day

This Mental Health Day, we are promoting the power of taking a moment to check in with a colleague. The office and each site will receive some treats and supporting materials to encourage everyone to sit down and have a chat.

By encouraging small, positive steps each day and ensuring support is always available, we can build a workplace where our people feel empowered, supported, and able to thrive.
