Project Engineer

A Project Engineer is required to fill a role in the Operations Team. This person must have experience and can work autonomously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Project Managers and Delivery team by taking ownership of Key aspect of project delivery.
  • Assist with procurement and equipment delivery schedules.
  • Liaising with existing & perspective clients.
  • Assist with tender documentation preparation, evaluation, and presentation.
  • Technical evaluation of equipment offers.
  • Liaising with manufacturers, to ensure equipment meet design specifications.
  • Assist with management of onsite works.
  • Ensure that all site activities are carried out to Powercomm’s high standards.
  • Monitor & review contractors’ activities in line with Powercomm procedures

Minimum:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree / Qualified HV Electrician
  • HV substations 10kV to 220kV Experience
  • Safe pass.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages etc.
  • Willingness to travel within Ireland & the UK – vehicle provided by Powercomm

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with practical onsite experience.
  • Familiarity with ESB/NIE standards.

Skills

  • Team player and have good interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, committed and work well under time pressure.
  • Safety focused.
  • Logical and imaginative approach to problem solving.
  • Proven capability in decision making.

While candidates with all stated experience would be preferred, we would consider applicants for a trainee role with some of the desired skills and experience.

 

ISO Responsibilities:

  • Comply with Powercomm Group ISO Management System requirements i.e. perform your work according to your process documents, procedures and maintaining document information/completing department forms/records as required.
  • Understand and apply our SHEQ policies statement in all aspects of your work.
  • Contribute towards achieving Powercomm Group company objectives.
  • Ensure that the needs and requirements of Powercomm Group internal staff and customers/clients are understood and delivered.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer

A self-driven Electrical Senior Engineer is required to fill a role in HV/MV design. This person must have experience and can work autonomously.

We offer high and medium voltage electrical design, installation, inspection, commissioning, and maintenance services for bespoke and full turnkey solutions.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Engineering studies using industry leading software (PowerFactory, CDEGs, CYMCAP) – Studies include protection coordination, load flow, power quality, earthing, lightning protection, insulation coordination, dynamic etc.
  • Preparation of equipment specifications
  • Technical evaluation of equipment offers.
  • Liaising with manufacturers, to ensure equipment meets design specifications.
  • Liaising with clients
  • Design of protection and control schemes
  • Preparation of engineering drawings (substation layouts, elevations, lightning zones etc.)
  • Preparation of panel schematic drawings using EPLAN
  • On-site inspections and testing.
  • Completion all safety requirements including compiling Risk Assessments and Method Statements and on-site risk assessments.
  • Attendance at FATs for HV switchgear, transformers, and protection cabinets.
  • Tender documentation preparation, evaluation, and presentation
  • Technical report writing.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • 5-10years experience.
  • Safe pass.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages etc.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with HV substation design from 10kV to 220kV.
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages, for example Powerfactory
  • Familiarity with ESB standards.

HV Electrical Commissioner

A self-driven HV Electrical Commissioner is required to fill a role in Commissioning Team. This person must have experience and can work autonomously.

We offer high and medium voltage electrical design, installation, inspection, commissioning, and maintenance services for bespoke and full turnkey solutions.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • HV Testing on MV/HV primary plant.
  • Commissioning of Switchgear Interlocking, Functional Testing.
  • Circuit breaker commissioning and CB Timing.
  • VT & CT Ratio, Insulation, Class & Burden, Primary Injection.
  • Transformer Tan-Delta, Ratio, DC Resistance & SCI.
  • Protection Relay Testing. Scada Signal Testing.
  • Earth Grid Testing.
  • Proficient Using Omicron test equipment for testing primary plant and protection relays. Experience using Omicron CMC 356, CPC TD1 CU1, CT analyzer and Testrano equipment.
  • Experienced with Protection testing for Transformer and Line differential, Distance protection and tele protection, CB Fail and Busbar protection, Overcurrent and earth fault protection and generator protection.
  • Proficient in modern Protection schemes with an understanding of how they should work and function.
  • MV switchgear testing including HIPOT testing.
  • MV/HV cable testing.
  • Specification of equipment
  • Manage Work schedule and program.
  • Attend site meetings.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Electric Theories

Experience in the following protection relays would be useful but not necessary in all cases.

  • Siemens Siprotec protection devises for Line impedance, overcurrent Line differential and CB fail protection.
  • Toshiba distance and line differential protection.
  • ABB RET differential protection.
  • Toshiba GRB protection devises.
  • ABB REB Busbar protection devises.
  • ABB overcurrent protection.
  • SEPAM protection.
  • Reyrole protection devises.
  • Areva protection

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree/ Qualified HV Electrician
  • >3 years experience.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages etc.
  • Commissioning Training Certs
