Electrical Design Engineer

A self-driven Electrical Design Engineer is required to fill a role in the area of HV/MV design.

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Engineering studies using industry leading software (PowerFactory, CDEGs, CYMCAP)
  • Studies include protection coordination, load flow, power quality, earthing, lightning protection, insulation coordination, dynamic etc.
  • Preparation of equipment specifications
  • Technical evaluation of equipment offers
  • Liaising with manufacturers, to ensure equipment meet design specifications.
  • Liaising with clients
  • Design of protection and control schemes
  • Preparation of engineering drawings (substation layouts, elevations, lightning zones etc.)
  • Preparation of panel schematic drawings using EPLAN
  • On-site inspections and testing.
  • Completion all safety requirements including compiling Risk Assessments and Method Statements and on-site risk assessments.
  • Attendance at FATs for HV switchgear, transformers and protection cabinets.
  • Tender documentation preparation, evaluation and presentation.
  • Technical report writing.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Electrical Engineering Degree
  • Safe pass.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages etc.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with some or all aspects of HV substations from 10kV to 220kV.
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages (PowerFactory, ETAP).
  • Familiarity with ESB standards.

Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) Advisor

Powercomm are looking for a self-driven Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) Advisor to join our team.

Powercomm fulfill H&S Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) and Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) roles across our projects.

Powercomm’s Integrated Management System is accredited to ISO 45001:2018, ISO9001:2015 and ISO14001:2015

Key Responsibilities/Duties

  • Support the continuous management and review of OEHS policies and programs
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics
  • Conduct site auditing and enforce preventative measures
  • Review existing policies and measures and update according to legislation
  • Initiate and organise OEHS training of employees
  • Inspect office/site and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity (e.g. not using protective equipment)
  • Oversee installations, maintenance, disposal of substances etc,
  • Stop any unsafe acts or processes that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  • Record and investigate incidents
  • Prepare QEHS response to tenders
  • Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Certificate in occupational health and safety
  • Proven experience as safety officer
  • Knowledge of QEHS related legislation and procedures
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
