
Bullstown Solar Farm
The scope of works comprises a solar farm development at Bullstown, Donaghmore, Ashbourne, Co. Meath, with a total export capacity of 8.42 megawatts.

Project information

The development consisted of a solar farm, comprising rows of solar photovoltaic panels known as arrays. The development site area is approximately 17.54 hectares (43.3 acres).
The scope of works comprises a solar farm development at Bullstown, Donaghmore, Ashbourne, Co. Meath, with a total export capacity of 8.42 megawatts. Powercomms' scope of works includes:
Electrical Balance of Plant (EBOP):
- Design and build an MV substation/control building, as required.
- Design and build of Grid Connection System.
- Site enabling works, including the construction of the site access track.
- All associated site development and ancillary works.
The Bullstown 20kV Substation connects the Solar Park to the 20kV distribution system, managed by ESBN (the Utility) through a new 20kV circuit to the Ashbourne 38kV Substation. The new 20kV site substation at Bullstown comprises of indoor-type equipment, including indoor GIS-type switchgear. The works include the civil and electrical works associated with the Bullstown Solar Park 20kV substation and 20kV underground grid cable. The solar farms are all connected at 20kV. The works also included the design and build of the 20 kV contestable ESB substation to ESB specification.
