A Day in the Life of an Office Administrator

We sat down with Emily and spoke to her about the various aspects of her role. It was an excellent opportunity to learn about her role and how she supports the business.

 

Key tasks- how do you support the business in general?

The day varies with different tasks, my day would mainly consist of weekly accommodation – booking, cancelling, amending reservations, vehicles – taxing, CVRTS, DCI Cards, Eflow tags and if there are any rentals needed in the case of breakdowns etc (looking after current on road vehicles) Answering the phones, going through the post, looking after goods in/out, DPD – Arranging collections for items requested by the those on site. Office stationery, Ink ordering and PO’S. 

 

Meetings – Meet and greet the visitors. Arrange lunch, refreshments, tea/ coffee for them.

 

Depending on the day, then you could have Dilo work to do – I would look after the calibration & training side of Dilo. 

 

Then, a couple of times a year, you would have to do work with HMRC for those who need to go to the UK for a job. 

My main duties are as follows:

  • Hotels
  • Vehicles Taxing/CVRT/DCI/Eflow/Breakdowns
  • Reception jobs - Phone/Post/ goods in / out
  • PO’S Stationary/ink/tapes
  • Dilo Calibration/training
  • Revenue / HMRC
  • DPD 

 

What do you like about the role and/or Powercomm?

I love that every day is different; no two days are the same. Always kept busy, and various jobs pop up throughout the day that aren’t necessarily on the list above. You get a great sense of accomplishment after completing tasks. 

Powercomm is made up of great people, always someone there to help, whether it be the phones or hotels, etc, we all help each other out where we can. It’s a very positive work environment and there are plenty of opportunities for growth which is great. 

 

Challenges?

I can’t say there are many challenges, as I said previously, if you are ever stuck or need help with anything or haven’t got time to get to something, you can always count on somebody to give you a helping hand. And likewise, you would do the same for them. 

 

 What do you like to do for fun?

Swimming & The Gym & going for walks with family & friends would be my main interests (if you can call the gym fun) and a great way to unwind in the evenings.
